Milan target Merih Demiral wants Italy return

The powers that be at Serie A heavyweights Milan have identified a new name in their ongoing search for reinforcements at the back in the form of Merih Demiral, who wants to return to Italy.

That’s according to transfer insider Gianluca Di Marzio, who has this evening provided a fresh insight into developments behind the scenes at San Siro.

It is of course common knowledge that Milan are on the lookout for defensive additions ahead of this week’s fast-approaching transfer deadline. This comes after Stefano Piolo’s squad was hit by a remarkable stretch of bad luck on the personnel front.

As things stand, key Rossoneri stoppers Fikayo Tomori, Malick Thiaw and Pierre Kalulu are all sidelined owing to respective injury concerns.

The Milan brass, as a result, have been left with little choice but to seek out fresh blood in the form of Demiral.

Turkish international Demiral of course only sealed a departure from Serie A last summer, as part of a big-money move from Atalanta to Saudi outfit Al-Ahli.

Unsettled and unhappy with life in the Middle East, however, the 25-year-old is already looking for a way out from Al Ahli.

And Milan are keen to take advantage of this situation, by bringing Demiral back to Italy just six months on from his exit.

The Diavolo, it is understood, are readying a dry loan proposal for the one-time Juventus man, albeit with it remaining to be seen whether Al-Ahli are in any way open to as much.
