New Napoli manager Francesco Calzona is angry at winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia after the Serie A star reacted badly during the club’s Champions League clash against Barcelona.
Kvaratskhelia didn’t have a great evening against Barcelona and when he was taken off, he had expressed some anger and unhappiness at being taken off early. He had done the same when Rudi Garcia was the manager but things had not escalated back then.
Il Mattino today (via CN24) state that Calzona is angry at the Georgian for how he reacted and he took the issue head-on before training today. He spoke to Kvaratskhelia about the reaction and made it clear that he doesn’t appreciate a gesture like that, stating that the team matters more then the individual.
The club are considered whether the player should be fined and the possibility was discussed at the training centre yesterday. There is also a possibility that the winger could be benched against Cagliari as a punishment.
