Serie A side Napoli are at the top of the table and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has been a vital player for them, operating in the attacking midfield role.
Antonio Conte’s side look set to challenge for the title but doubts remain about Kvaratskhelia’s future, even though talks have been held about a potential new deal. There is still a possibility of him leaving in the summer but it doesn’t seem as if club CEO and owner Aurelio de Laurentiis is too concerned.
He was recently asked about the idea of the Georgian leaving and De Laurentiis stated that the club will move on, like they have from other players in the past.
He said, as relayed by Gazzetta: “What if Kvara does not renew and then leaves? We will come to terms with it. There have been previous cases, we have never had a problem with it. It is important to respect the will of the players, who must also respect our investments.”
That is quite a thing to say for a president, especially in the middle of contract talks between the two parties. There have been multiple disturbances in the saga and it was Conte who was key to keeping the player in the summer. There was interest from PSG, but Conte managed to make sure that the Georgia star stayed.
