Napoli fail in new move for Antonio Conte

Napoli made another attempt to land manager Antonio Conte but they have failed, yet again.

The Partenopei had tried to sign the former Tottenham manager some months ago when Rudi Garcia’s job was in danger. But Conte rejected the approach, as he wanted to spend more time with his family. During the club’s 3-0 loss to Torino, Conte was present in the stands.

Il Mattino (via TMW) state that Napoli made another attempt for Conte over the weekend, stating that the move was made for the future. The attempt was made on Sunday and went on till Monday, and CEO Aurelio de Laurentiis had decided to bow down to the demands of the Italian.

De Laurentiis was interested in offering a three-and-a-half-year deal worth €8 million per season and was willing to hand him full control of transfers under a new sporting director of his choice. Whiel the reason is unknown, Conte didn’t go ahead with the move and there is a possibility that this will be discussed over the summer, when Napoli are expected to look for a new manager.
