Napoli make contact for Marco Giampaolo as Walter Mazzarri’s job uncertain

Napoli have approached former Milan boss Marco Giampaolo to replace current manager Walter Mazzarri following inconsistent results.

According to a report by Rai Sport via Calcio Napoli 24, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is thinking of entrusting the head managerial role to Marco Giampaolo if Walter Mazzarri gets sacked following the clash with Barcelona. The current coach is given the last chance at survival as the result against The Blaugranas in the Champions League this week will determine his future in the club.

The Partenopei are far from having the season they expected at the start of the campaign following their Scudetto win last term. Performances have been erratic and fans have already seen a transition from Luciano Spalletti to Rudi Garcia to Walter Mazzarri. Another manager at this stage might just help them finish in the right position at the end.

Giampaolo’s entourage waits for an official proposal from the Napoli management as everything till now has been indirect. He is considered by De Laurentiis as someone who goes along the likes of other potential candidates such as Roberto De Zerbi, Maurizio Sarri and Thiago Motta.
