Napoli reach verbal agreement for Stefano Pioli

Former Serie A champions Napoli seem to have reached a verbal agreement to make Stefano Pioli their next manager.

The Partenopei, it was recently reported, will not hire Antonio Conte but are expected to make an announcement about their new manager on the 29th of May. While the name of the manager wasn’t revealed back then, there seems to have been a development.

La Repubblica (via CN24) have reported that the ‘chosen one’ is Stefano Pioli, who will leave Milan in the summer. The decision has been made by Napoli, with contacts with the manager’s entourage going on for weeks now. In the last few hours, a verbal agreement over a two-year deal was reached between the parties and there will be an option for a third year.

While Vincenzo Italiano was a candidate, his candidacy has now cooled down. Unless there is a massive u-turn, Pioli will be Napoli’s next manager and the announcement will be made after the Rossoneri confirm his sacking from the club.
