Napoli set for key meeting with Antonio Conte

Serie A giants Napoli are set to have a key meeting with Antonio Conte, as they step up advances to hire a new manager.

The Partenopei have been heavily linked with a move for the Italian, who has previously rejected Napoli as he was on a sabbatical earlier in the season. Talks is rife about a potential agreement but that hasn’t quite happened – yet.

Il Mattino (via TMW) today state that while Napoli CEO Aurelio de Laurentiis still isn’t fully certain about hiring Conte, he will make an attempt soon. A meeting with the former Tottenham boss will take place in the next few days and Napoli want to ascertain whether Conte is keen on a move or not.

Financials will also likely be talked about during the meeting and Napoli’s idea is to start from a lower base and then build towards what Conte wants. The goal is to have a contract in place which has no clauses of an exit like it was in the case of Luciano Spalletti.

As a form of respect towards Francesco Calzona, Napoli only want to announce the hiring of a new manager at the end of the campaign.
