Ruben Loftus-Cheek reveals admiration for Milan legend Kaka: “He danced on the ball”

Ruben Loftus-Cheek spoke about carrying on the Milan midfield tradition and their ambitions for this season.

Speaking in an interview with UEFA.com via Tutto Mercato Web, Ruben Loftus-Cheek was quizzed about his side’s hopes for the UEFA Europa League for this campaign. He lamented Milan’s departure from the Champions League earlier this season but explained that the team remains focused on achieving its newer objectives. He said: “In the Champions League we narrowly missed out on qualifying for the round of 16. We competed on equal terms with very great teams. But now our focus is the Europa League. We know we can go far and we hope to do so”

The Englishman hailed former Rossoneri midfielder Kaka who was also his inspiration. He also commented on coping with pressure at the club which is quite normal. He said: “In football, there is always pressure, but we footballers are used to it. And when I play I try to have fun, to enjoy the moment. I always liked watching Kakà in action when he played for Milan. His dribbling was incredible and he was incredibly fast. He danced on the ball.”

Next, the 28-year-old was quick to heap praise on his midfield partner Tijjani Reijnders who arrived last summer. Loftus-Cheek termed him as a team man and a player with a high work rate. He commented: “Tijjani is fantastic. Technically he is very skilled, he dribbles well and knows how to pass the ball. And physically he is tireless. He runs for the team. A team needs players like him. If you make a mistake or are badly positioned, you know that Tijjani is there He’ll patch things up. He’s a fantastic player and everyone noticed it right away. Plus he also scores a few goals. He is a top player for us.”
