Salernitana set to sack manager Pippo Inzaghi

Serie A side Salernitana are now set to sack manager Pippo Inzaghi, who has failed to turn around the club’s fortunes.

Inzaghi is Salernitana’s second manager of the season and he had replaced Paulo Sousa, who had done well to make sure that the club survived the drop last season.

La Gazzetta dello Sport state that Inzaghi’s tenure in Salerno is set to end soon, with the club having lost to Empoli last night. The decision has been made by the club, who are rock bottom with 13 points in 24 games. With Inzaghi at the helm, Salernitana have won just two games in 16 games.

The exit will be made official in the next few hours, with Davide Ballardini the leading candidate to replace Inzaghi. Leonardo Semplici, who managed Spezia last season, is also a potential name. Only the final details of Inzaghi’s sacking are missing and it will be done soon.
