Shakhtar Donetsk’s Georgiy Sudakov reveals Napoli had offer rejected for him

Shakhtar Donetsk star Georgiy Sudakov has revealed that Napoli had an offer rejected for him in the January transfer window.

The midfielder has been linked with a move to Serie A in recent months, thanks to his impressive performances for the Ukrainian side. He has scored three times in the league this season, scoring once each in the Champions League and the Europa League.

The 21-year-old spoke to Corriere dello Sport recently and he was asked about his future at Shakhtar Donetsk (via TMW). He revealed that while he doesn’t know of interest from other clubs, he does know of Napoli’s rejected offer.

“Galatasaray, Manchester City and Barcelona? I don’t know of any negotiations with them. However, I know that there are were the official proposals from Juventus and Napoli: Shakhtar refused €40 million from Napoli, Sergei Anatolyevich Palkin told me (the CEO).”

Sudakov also spoke about how he felt when the offer was rejected and he got to know about it.

“Of course, at the beginning I was a little upset, but then I understood the club’s reasons. I haven’t given everything yet and they obviously want to get more from my sale. And so I agreed to renew until winter 2028, extending for another 6 months, because my contract was until the summer, with a higher salary and very convenient conditions. Some said that Shakhtar threw me a bone, but that’s not the case, inappropriate. However, Palkin said that maybe in 6 months or a year I will go to Europe. I trust him and the president.”

Juventus have also been constantly linked with the player for some months and they could yet come calling for him in the summer transfer window, as the Bianconeri eye up midfield signings and the Ukraine is likely to be on their shortlist.
