Simone Inzaghi on Marcus Thuram’s injury v Atletico: “Let’s hope we don’t lose him for a long time”

Inter boss Simone Inzaghi is hoping that the Serie A giants do not lose Marcus Thuram for a long t ime, after the Frenchman picked up an injury in the Champions League tie against Atletico Madrid.

Thuram was taken off at half-time due to injury and Marko Arnautovic came on. It was the Austrian who scored the winning goal in the game, despite missing a couple of big chances. Inter head to the Wanda Metropolitano with a solid advantage, as they dominated Atleti in the second half.

But Thuram’s injury was concerning, considering how important he has been. Inzaghi spoke to Mediaset about the player and he talked about the situation (via TMW).

“He had a little problem on the sprint with Witsel, in the next move he shot on goal and felt it. In the next few days we will see what he has, but these are things that can happen. Let’s hope we don’t lose him for a long time.”

Thuram had joined Inter for free in the summer and he has been one of the best signings in Europe so far. He has contributed to 20 goals in Serie A so far, scoring ten and assisting ten. He has one goal and one assist in Europe, which shows how vital his fitness is for the side.
