Torino president Urbano Cairo has clarified that defender Alessandro Buongiorno will stay at the club in January.
The 24-year-old Italian has been heavily linked with a move to Napoli, who are attempting to sign him this month by potentially offering cash plus Lorenzo Colombo in the deal. Napoli have also been linked with the defender, as they look to add a new defender to their backline.
But it seems as if Buongiorno will not leave the club this month. Torino president Cairo spoke to TuttoSport (via CM) and stated that the player will stay at Il Toro and that even his intention is to stay at the club this month.
He said: โI said it last week at the end of the League Assembly and I can only repeat it: heย is not for sale.ย In August, when he expressed his intention to stay with us instead of going to Atalanta, I told him: โYou are and will be very important for usโ.ย Now I repeat the same thing with even greater firmness. We have renewed his contract until 2028 and he will stay with us, as is also his wish.ย The relations with the agent Beppe Riso are excellent. But also with Milan, eh.โ
It has been previously reported that Torinoโs valuation of Buongiorno goes beyond โฌ30 million and that is making it difficult for Milan to sign the player. But the move could be attempted once again by the Rossoneri in the summer transfer window.
