Why Napoli’s Victor Osimhen could prefer Chelsea over Paris Saint-Germain

Serie A side Napoli’s Victor Osimhen could be heading for Chelsea instead of Paris Saint-Germain.

Vincenzo D’Angelo of La Gazzetta dello Sport reveals why a transfer to Chelsea this summer would benefit both Victor Osimhen and Napoli. The Nigerian international will be finishing his time with the Partenopei at the end of this season as he wants a newer experience elsewhere.

Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea have been working for quite some time now on a deal for Osimhen, whose release clause is set between €120 million-130 million. Paying such a high amount would provide direct passage to either party for contract talks with the player but it is predicted that the clubs will be entering negotiations with Napoli soon to lower the transfer fees.

Victor Osimhen could be enticed by the prospect of joining Chelsea as it has been his dream to play in the Premier League and follow in the footsteps of his idol Didier Drogba, who is amongst the club’s history books. However, The Blues might not be the best team in Europe next season and that is what PSG will try to exploit.

The London-based club will offer a salary much higher than the current €10 million the 25-year-old receives in Naples and will be able to guarantee a first name on the team sheet throughout the season. Chelsea’s proposal will be fruitful to Napoli too as Aurelio De Laurentiis will attempt permanent transfers of Romelu Lukaku and one of the youngsters. This will be in addition to receiving a transfer fee of at least €80 million.

The Neapolitans are expected to be busy in the market this summer as the sale of Victor Osimhen will trigger a host of new signings for a rebuilding job after an underwhelming season.
