Analyzing Lazioโ€™s transfer business before the start of Serie A

Lazio are currently under a transfer ban imposed by COVISOC due to failing to meet financial requirements, specifically related to the liquidity index, debt, and extended labor costs. This ban prevents the club from signing new players and, according to some reports, also restricts contract extensions. The ban is in effect until January 2026. However, this hasnโ€™t stopped them completely as they have been to make previous loans permanent.

Maurizio Sarri is the new manager and he has his task cut out.

Major incomings

โ€“ Nicolรฒ Rovella, Defensive Midfield, From Juventus, โ‚ฌ17m
โ€“ Luca Pellegrini, Left-Back, From Juventus, โ‚ฌ4m
โ€“ Nuno Tavares, Left-Back, From Arsenal, โ‚ฌ5m
โ€“ Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, Central Midfield, From Hatayspor, โ‚ฌ3.4m
โ€“ Samuel Gigot, Centre-Back, From Marseille, โ‚ฌ0.5m

Major Outgoings:

โ€“ Loum Tchaouna, Right Winger, To Burnley, โ‚ฌ15m
โ€“ Nicolรฒ Casale, Centre-Back, To Bologna, โ‚ฌ6.5m
โ€“ Romano Floriani Mussolini, Right-Back, To Cremonese, Loan

How have they done? :

They have done a decent job considering their limitations. Rovella and Tavares are both very important to the team and the likes of Pellegrini and Dele-Bashiru are young with high potential. Their squad is good enough to see them not drop too much down the table.

What remains to be done? :

Realistically, given the ban, thereโ€™s nothing really that Lazio can do in this window.
