Could Martin Baturina leave Como in January?

Martin Baturina was on the radar for a lot of big European clubs, so it came as a bit of a surprise when Como beat them to his signature. The Croatian attacking midfielder arrived to the Italian club for a fee of around 25 million euros. Since then however, he has found game time hard to come by. Before this international break, he has only played 220 minutes across all competitions, most of which came in the cup.

The problem is the fact that he plays in the same position as a certain Nico Paz, who without a doubt is Comoโ€™s talisman and arguably the best player in the whole league so far this season. Manager Cesc Fabregas has urged everyone to give the young Croatian time to settle in and get accustomed but is that something Baturina can afford himself?

For the first time in two years, Baturina was not called up to the national team, for technical reasons. Croatia manager Zlatko Dalic clearly specified that it was a decision made due to the playerโ€™s lack of minutes. With the 2026 World Cup approaching, the message to Baturina is clear โ€“ he needs to play. As per calciomercato.com, even though Como or Fabregas arenโ€™t explicitly interested in their new signing leaving so soon, they are unlikely to stand in the way of him seeking more minutes through a loan move away.
