Luka Modric lays down conditions for Milan stay

Luka Modric has clearly enjoyed his time at Serie A side Milan, even if he has a cheekbone fracture. Despite his impact, the Croatianโ€™s future at the Rossoneri remains uncetain.

Calciomercatoโ€™s Daniele Longo has reported that the midfielder is disappointed that he canโ€™t help his team in the last few games of the season. He is now hoping that Milan qualify for the Champions League until the end of the campaign.

That isnโ€™t the only condition that Milan need to match to keep Modric beyond this season. Even if his salary will go up to โ‚ฌ4.5 million per season, which is an upgrade on hsi current wage of โ‚ฌ3 million per season. But that also wonโ€™t be enough, as the veteran makes evaluations with his family about possibly triggering the option of extension.

But as of now, Modric wants Max Allegri to stay beyond this season. He has formed an excellent relationship with the Italian, whose stay will dictate Modricโ€™s future in a significant way.

Moreover, Modric also wants the current squad to be improved. He wants to advance in the Champions League and he wants the Rossoneri to recruit in a way which takes them to the advanced stages of the competition next season.

The situation will be assessed further in the next few days, as the Croatia international will speak to Milan sporting director Igli Tare about his future.
