If there ever was any doubt about Hakan Çalhanoğlu’s ability to deliver the goods for Inter, the Turk firmly put them to bed in game one with a thunderous strike to open his team’s account against Monza.
And so, the 32-year-old has kicked off the final year on his current contract with the Nerazzurri. As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, there are no plans between the two to renew their marriage, but Çalhanoğlu is epected to see out the final year of his contract at San Siro.
This is Çalhanoğlu’s tenth season in Italy’s fashion capital, having arrived at San Siro as a Rossonero in summer 2017. In that time, he has firmly established himself as one of Serie A most reliable midfielders.
In the middle of the park for Inter, Çalhanoğlu is arguably irreplaceable in that deep-lying playmaker role. Despite the abundance of talent at Cristian Chivu’s disposal in the midfield department, there’s arguably no one who can play in his stead and perform to comparable levels.
While Inter and Çalhanoğlu are confirmed to see out this season together, the fact that there are no ongoing talks over a contract renewal has piqued interest in him among clubs back home in Türkiye, with Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe believed to be monitoring the situation.
