Corini | “I get why Montella hoped Balotelli would have ‘flu!”

Brescia Coach Eugenio Corini took Fiorentina boss Vincenzo Montella’s joke in good spirit after his opposite number quipped that he hoped Mario Balotelli got the ‘flu ahead of Monday night’s match!

“It’s an understandable joke,” Corini told reporters in his pre-match press conferednce. “Just as we hoped Federico Chiesa would be out for longer after international duty. Balotelli had a slight knee problem, he had treatment and I’ll have to evaluate him.

“We need to do better on home turf, though we’ve been a little unlucky so far in those fixtures. We’re coming off three consecutive defeats here, but want to give the fans a victory to cheer.

“Fiorentina play with two strikers who occupy the space in an unusual way, as Chiesa attacks the space, whereas Franck Ribery prefers to dribble and then go forward. They can hurt us if they find space to run into.

“Strategically, my tactics have strengths, but also weaknesses. The regret is that we made mistakes in defence and are still getting accustomed to the different pace of the game in Serie A.”
