Di Biagio resigns from U-21 post

The day after Italyโ€™s U-21 squad was eliminated from the UEFA European Championship, head coach Luigi Di Biagio has resigned.

Di Biagio had been at that post since 2013, with extremely underwhelming performances in tournaments.

A semifinal appearance in the 2017 European Championship was the only decent performance with group stage exits in both the 2015 and 2019 editions of the tournament.

โ€œMy experience ends here,โ€ Di Biagio said today at a press conference. โ€œIf relaunching Italian football was one of the main objectives, then I can say that a great job has been done, helping important youngsters develop and with many players moving up to the National Team.โ€

Di Biagio leaves after six years with the Italian U-21 squad.
