Fiorentina won’t contest Ribery ban

Fiorentina will not contest the three-match ban issued to winger Franck Ribery after he was caught on camera pushing match official Matteo Passeri after a heated 2-1 defeat to Lazio on Sunday.

The Frenchman issued an apology yesterday via his social media account, and the club have decided that the punishment issued was appropriate in this instance.

“I am sorry about last night, I apologise to my team mates, the coach and the fans,” read the aforementioned post.

“I apologise to mister Passeri, because after the final whistle I was very agitated and disappointed, and I hope he can understand my mood.

“I always want to be on the pitch, as I am here in Florence for this city and team, and I expect more care for Fiorentina, the same care that is given to other clubs, because of the hard work we put in on a daily basis.”
