Official | Gattuso leaves Milan

AC Milan officially announce that head coach Gennaro Gattuso has officially left his post at the club.

After 18 months in charge of the club he laced up his boots with for 13 years, Gattuso has left on mutual terms, leaving money on the table.

“Deciding to leave Milan’s bench is not easy but it’s a decision I had to make,” Gattuso said this morning. “Am I giving up a two-year contract? Yes, because my story with Milan can never be a question of money.”

Despite multiple injuries this season, Milan missed out on a top-four finish by just a single point.

The club’s official statement noted, “AC Milan must now look to the future, whilst ensuring continuity, financial stability and sustainable growth.”

Gattuso was Milan’s sixth head coach since Max Allegri left the club in 2014.
