Official | Genoa appoint Thiago Motta as new boss

Genoa have officially fired Coach Aurelio Andreazzoli and replaced him with former Italy midfielder Thiago Motta.

The Grifone sit second bottom of Serie A, having won just one match in their opening eight fixtures. A 5-1 defeat at Parma last weekend allowed owner Enrico Preziosi to make the decision to remove the former Empoli man from his role on the bench.

Motta is a former Genoa player himself, but has limited Coaching experience as his only previous job was when he headed up the Paris Saint-Germain U19 team last season.

It’s believed that Preziosi, who has a reputation for hiring and firing bosses, has handed the new Coach a contract to the end of the current campaign with an option to extend for another season.
