Atalanta boss slams refereeing after Fiorentina loss: “We don’t understand anything anymore.”

Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini has slammed the refereeing in the club’s Serie A loss to Fiorentina.

The game involving the two sides had three penalties in total, with La Viola getting two of them and converting both. All the decisions had some amount of controversy attached to them.

While talking to Sky Sport after the game, Gasperini stated: “There were unfavourable situations that affected the game. We don’t understand anything anymore and we need more clarity on refereeing decisions.”

Atalanta general manager Umberto Marino has also talked about the decisions and claimed: “There is a lot of talk about communication but no one has spoken about these episodes. The referee told us that Zapata could interfere with the canceled goal. Against Bologna they denied us a penalty for the handball involving De Silvestri for a case similar case to that of Maehle. There is no logical explanation for this goal, it is a natural movement.”
