Gasperini hits back at Papu: “The physical attack was his.”

Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini has fired back at the latest comments by Papu Gomez, who had recently claimed in an interview that the La Dea tried to physically beat him.

Gasperini has responded to these claims in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, saying that it was Papu who was about to physically harm the manager and he had disrespected the club’s owners and directors and that’s why he left.

Gasperini has claimed: “Gomez’s behavior and attitudes, on and off the field, had become unacceptable. The physical attack was his, not mine, but the real reason he left Bergamo is because he seriously disrespected the owners of the club. I hope that Gomez can continue to be talked about with his performances, as he did at Atalanta.”

Gomez has claimed in his interview that Gasperini had never apologised for his behaviour and that’s why he had asked to leave La Dea and now plays for Sevilla.
