Inter CEO Beppe Marotta expects new Martinez contract amidst Tottenham interest

Inter CEO Beppe Marotta is expecting the club to tie down Lautaro Martinez to a new contract soon, despite interest from Premier League side Tottenham.

This comes from the print edition of La Repubblica, who claim that Marotta isn’t going to accept the idea of the club losing a star player following the sales of Achraf Hakimi and Romelu Lukaku. While Inter’s haven’t been succeeding in handing the Argentine a new deal, the club’s CEO expects to be able to renew the contract soon.

While it won’t mean that Martinez will stay at Inter in the long-term because of the Nerazzurri’s financial issues, his stay this summer will allow Inter some comfort in the striker department especially since Simone Inzaghi wants to replace Lukaku with two players instead of one. Martinez’s stay will provide them with some form of stability up front.
