Milan boss confirms Ibrahimovic injury ahead of Liverpool tie

Milan boss Stefano Pioli has confirmed that Zlatan Ibrahimovic will not take part in their Champions League game against Liverpool.

Ibrahimovic had come on from the bench for the Rossoneri against Lazio and he also scored the club’s second goal of the game. But Pioli has now confirmed that he felt some discomfort on his achilles tendon and as a result, Milan have decided not to risk him for the Liverpool game.

He told in the press conference: “He came out of Sunday’s game with a sore tendon, we hoped he would recover but he has a bit of pain and it is therefore better not to risk it.”

Olivier Giroud tested negative for COVID last week and because of Ibrahimovic’s absence, the Frenchman will now be expected to play.
