Milan skipper Kjaer and medical staff set for UEFA President’s Award

Milan defender Simon Kjaer and the Danish national team medical staff that helped Inter’s Christian Eriksen are set to be handed the UEFA President’s Award.

UEFA have confirmed that the medical team which saved the Inter midfielder’s life and Kjaer will receive the award, with Aleksander Čeferin describing them as the ‘true heroes of Euro 2020’. Ceferin also extended his best wishes to Eriksen and his family in his recovery.

While talking to UEFA, Ceferin stated: “This year, the President’s Award transcends football,” he said. “It serves as an important and eternal reminder of just how precious life is and puts everything in our lives into the clearest perspective.”

Eriksen had collapsed on the pitch during Denmark’s group stage game against Finland but the rapid response resuscitated the midfielder.
