Napoli’s Insigne on number 10 suggestions: “It can’t be touched.”

Napoli skipper Lorenzo Insigne has talked about the possibility of him taking the number ten jersey at the Partenopei.

Insigne found the back of the net for Napoli in their 2-0 win over Cagliari. The Partenopei skipper slammed home the penalty after Victor Osimhen had scored for the club in the first half. Luciano Spalletti’s men are the top of the league.

After the game, Insigne spoke to DAZN, who asked him about whether suggestions regarding him potentially taking the number ten jersey are true.

Insigne responded and said: “I have 24, number 10 can’t be touched. It was the shirt of a legend for us Neapolitans, who made us dream. The number 10 shirt must remain in a drawer and it should be so.”

Diego Maradona had donned the Napoli number ten during his spell at the club but the jersey was retired by the club back in 2020.
