Romelu Lukaku ‘hurt’ by actions of Inter fans amidst Chelsea move

Striker Romelu Lukaku is said to be feeling hurt by the actions of the Inter ultras, as he edges closer to a move back to Chelsea.

Corriere della Sera claim that Lukaku is contemplating his time at Inter and the exit from the club. It is believed that incidents such as ultras defacing his mural, calling him a traitor and insulting him have ‘hurt’ him mentally as the striker isn’t making the decision to leave Inter because of the money he would get at Chelsea.

It is stated that his decision is backed by ambition and Chelsea’s ambitions appeal to him more. Secondly, Inter are in financial difficulty and have already lost Antonio Conte and sold Achraf Hakimi. This created doubts in Lukaku’s mind regarding the club’s intentions. He’s a player who wants to win things and he doesn’t believe that Inter’s situation matches that goal.

While he is getting much more money at Chelsea, that wasn’t decisive in his decision-making. It is the possibility of moving to an ambitious club like Chelsea that convinced him and if the Blues hadn’t come forward, the striker would’ve stayed at Inter.
