Milan draw up plan to beat Newcastle Utd for Lille defender

Milan have now finalised a plan to beat Newcastle United in the race for Sven Botman.

Gianluca di Marzio has written about Botman’s situation for Williamhillnews.it and he has stated that Newcastle remain interested in the Dutchman. Approaches from both clubs did come in the January transfer window but Lille didn’t want to lose the player this season.

Milan tried till the last few days of the window and got as far as to have talks with Lille management, while the Magpies had an offer rejected by the club.

Milan have now ‘perfected’ their action plan for the summer in an attempt to sign the defender and beat competition and Newcastle and other clubs. Work is already underway and a positive meeting with the player’s agent was held back in early February.

The strategy of the Rossoneri is to acquire the green light from the player and potentially agree personal terms before the summer transfer window and then negotiate with Lille from a position of strength.

Botman prefers Milan over Newcastle and that was made clear in the meeting earlier in February. Relations with Lille are excellent as ever, as talks have also been held for Renato Sanches. But Botman is surely leaving in the summer and Milan don’t want to miss out on a chance.
