Milan’s Alexis Saelemaekers seeking redemption after receiving no offer in transfer window

Struggling for form at times, Alexis Saelemaekers is now a scorer of two goals in two UEFA Champions League games for Milan.

According to Daniele Longo, Alexis Saelemaekers is seeking a revival after failing to attain any offer in the summer transfer window. The report claims that coach Stefano Pioli has always seen the player as an integral part of the project.

But even so, the Rossoneri not received any offer for the Belgian, with only a few German clubs taking an interest in his services.

After scoring the second goal with a thumping header for Milan against Dinamo Zagreb, the 23-year-old has become the first player to score goals in the first two consecutive fixtures in the Champions League for the club after Zlatan Ibrahimovic did the same in the 2010/11 season.

Speaking to the mics of Sky Sport Italia, Saelemaekers said:

“It is true that I had already said this in the conference, I am working on my numbers in attack.”

Since the start of the new season, Saelemaekers has notched up two goals and one assist from seven appearances in all competitions.
