Portugal still insist on Jose Mourinho signing

The Portugal National Team are continuing to try and sign Jose Mourinho as their next manager, with Fernando Santos now no longer in charge.

Portugal were knocked out in the quarter-finals of the World Cup by Morocco and Santos left his role as coach after that. Reports have stated that they are interested in hiring Mourinho and now Gianluca di Marzio has confirmed that it indeed is the case.

It is stated that Portugal are continuing to see Mourinho as a key target, despite reports in Italy being suggestive of Roma’s and the manager’s lack of interest in the role. In the last few hours, Portugal Football Federation has been trying once again to bring Mourinho aboard and if the ex-Tottenham and Manchester United boss accepts the role, Portugal will then have to find an agreement with Roma about taking a double role.

The profile of Rui Jorge is very much on Portugal’s shortlist and he is the current manager of the Portugal Under-21s side.
