Roma boss Jose Mourinho following Napoli defeat: โ€œNapoli didnโ€™t deserve to winโ€

Roma manager Jose Mourinho believes that Napoli didnโ€™t deserve to win at the Stadio Olimpico in the two sidesโ€™ clash on Sunday.

In what was a closely contested tie, Luciano Spallettiโ€™s side came out on top because of a late and brilliant Victor Osimhen goal. The win took the Partenopei three points clear at the top of the Serie A table, with Roma now at fifth in the league.

Following the game though, Mourinho spoke to DAZN (via TMW) and he stated that Napoli didnโ€™t deserve to win and Roma didnโ€™t deserve the tie.

The Portuguese stated: โ€œYou have to have certain types of qualities to win but right now, there arenโ€™t any. We have to be more decisive upfront, what lodges into the statistics are the shots on goal. Then I also look at the half opportunities, those that you have to transform into opportunities as Osimhen did.

โ€œThe players make the difference, sometimes I am sorry to see the efforts of my players that play minutes. Sometimes it is not an equal fight, we are a team that when fatigue accumulates, we go into difficulty. Congratulations to Napoli who won without deserving to, we lost without deserving to. Irrati didnโ€™t have a great game.โ€

Mourinho was frustrated with the wastefulness of the forward players in the Giallorossi side and stated: โ€œI expected more, I also expected in the same way that Osimhen scored. The few situations we had, we were not able to exploit them, it was a difficult game.โ€
