Shevchenko to be sacked despite Milan result, Labbadia to replace him

Andriy Shevchenko’s fate at Genoa has been sealed irrespective of the result they get in the Coppa Italia against Milan and Bruno Labbadia is expected to replace him.

La Repubblica claim that regardless of the result later today, the paths of Shevchenko and Genoa will separate. There seems to be disagreement between the club and the manager, in terms of the signings made as he substituted Silvan Hefti against Sassuolo and he didn’t start against Spezia.

Kelvin Yeboah was in the stands, despite the club having to go through a struggle to register him in time for Spezia.

Johannes Spors does not want to bring Davide Ballardini back, as he wants to revolutionise the club and the choice is Labbadia. The ex-Hertha Berlin manager knows Italian well and has Italian heritage.

Following that, Genoa will look to sign Nadiem Amiri from Bayer Leverkusen. The move could have gone through last week, if not for COVID-19 restrictions.
