Andrea Pirlo set to become new Sampdoria manager

Former Juventus manager and midfielder Andrea Pirlo is now set to become the new manager of Serie B side Sampdoria.

Gianluca di Marzio has reported that Andrea Radrizzani has now made the choice for Samp’s new boss and it will be Pirlo, who left Turkish club Fatih Karagumruk some weeks ago at the end of the league season. Three meetings were held for Pirlo’s signature and the latest one took place yesterday.

Pirlo will sign a two-year deal with the option of a third. The final details are being sorted and that process is in progress. Pirlo was linked with a move to Salernitana some weeks ago when Paulo Sousa was being linked with a move to Napoli and the Salerno-based club were interested in Pirlo. But Sousa is now staying at Salernitana, ruliing out the option of them hiring the Italian.

Spezia were also linked with a move for Pirlo in the past but he will now restart his managerial journey in Italy from Serie B.
