Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini has launched a scathing criticism for Fiorentina president Rocco Commisso, days after their clubs took on each other in Serie A.
Atalanta started their Europa League campaign in impressive fashion yesterday, as they picked up a win over RakĂłw CzÄ™stochowa in Bergamo. This came only some days after La Dea’s 3-2 loss to Fiorentina. After the game yesterday though, Gasperini was asked about La Viola president Commisso, who had criticised the Atalanta boss after the game at the weekend in a video which had emerged later on social media.
When asked about Commisso, Gasperini stated that the Fiorentina chief is ‘rude’ and he refused to answer anything that Commisso said.
He told reporters: “Commisso is rude, every time he opens his mouth it’s like uncovering a manhole. I don’t even want to answer him, I have always defended Atalanta and I have never offended anyone.”
Gasperini has always got a rather violent response everytime his side has visited the Artemio Franchi, but that also rings true for some other venues, thereby making Gasperini someone who isn’t viewed positively by too many.
He further stated: “When I did it I defended them on sensational things, from Church episode was where it all started. We need to go and watch it again and put it on the web.”
Back in 2020, Gasperini was called a ‘son of a b****’ by Fiorentina fans and the manager had fired back at them with a similar abuse.
