Diego Maradona’s son on Napoli’s title win: “Dad, it is a pity you’re not here”

Diego Armando Maradona’s son has stated that it is a pity that his father isn’t alive to see Napoli win their first Scudetto since the Argentine did it for the Partenopei.

Victor Osimhen’s goal against Udinese yesterday will forever be historic, as it helped Napoli win their first title since 1990 and while it is their first without Maradona, the Argentine will forever be attached to the club’s history and heritage. Celebrations across the world and in Naples pay homage to Maradona and his contributions to the club, signifying how important his achievements will always be for those even remotely associated with Napoli.

His son – Diego Armando Maradona Junior, spoke to Sky Italia recently and he wishes that his father was alive to see Naples celebrate the Scudetto.

“It’s a pity you’re not here. It’s sad not having him next to hug him. He deserved to see a Scudetto and that Napoli could celebrate the Scudetto with him at the stadium.”

Maradona won two league titles with Napoli and also won the Coppa Italia once in 1987. He also took the club to UEFA Cup glory in 1989 and they have not won a European title since.
