Empoli to sack Paolo Zanetti after heavy loss to Roma

Serie A side Empoli have now sacked manager Paolo Zanetti after they took a 7-0 hammering at the hands of Jose Mourinho’s Roma.

The Giallorrossi had spoken after the win that he felt sorry for Empoli, who have now made the decision about Zanetti’s future. Sky Italia state that the Azzurri have made the decision to part ways with the ex-Venezia boss after the disastarous loss and have already identified a replacement.

Aurelio Andreazzoli will become the club’s next manager, having left the club initially to be replaced by Zanetti himself. Zanetti had helped Empoli survive relegation last season after having taken over from Andreazzoli and guided them to a respectable 14th placed finish. As of now, they are at the bottom of the table with no points and a goal difference of -12 and they are yet to score even once in the league.

Andreazzoli has managed Empoli thrice in the past and this will be his fourth stint at the club.
