Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat to skip pre-season friendlies as Man United move edges close

Sofyan Amrabat has decided to skip Fiorentina’s pre-season friendlies as Manchester United is close to reaching an agreement for a transfer.

According to a report by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Manchester United are close to agreeing on transfer fees with Serie A side Fiorentina for securing the services of Sofyan Amrabat this summer.

The Red Devils initially offered around €25 million plus bonuses to the Viola and considering how fast things are moving, the latter club will accept the fee soon. Fiorentina will fly to Belgrade where they will play against Red Star on the 26th of July. Amrabat will not board the plane as it was initially scheduled.

Fiorentina president Rocco Commisso blocked the midfielder’s move to Barcelona in January as he wanted to keep a high-profile player fresh from the World Cup. However, the Moroccan has again requested the club to sell him this transfer window and it will be granted.

Once the sale has been settled, the Italian club will dive into the market for a new goalkeeper, a centre-forward and possibly a centre-midfielder.
