Gianluigi Buffon set to retire from the game

Former Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and current Parma goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon is set to retire from the game soon.

While an official announcement is yet to arrive, La Gazzetta dello Sport state that the decision has been made by the 45-year-old, who is still very much active for Parma.

Buffon, who still had a year of contract with Parma, agreed to terminate his deal without too many problems. Such has always been his relationship with President Kyle Krause, who respect the goalkeeper’s decision.

It is fitting that Buffon’s career started with Parma and will end with the club, which he joined after his departure from the Bianconeri.

He has already received offers in non-playing roles. Several proposals have been received in the last few days, including from Parma, but the most substantial and most tantalizing one seems to be the position of head of delegation of the national team – the same role which was entasked to the late Gianluca Vialli.

Gabriele Gravina believes that Buffon is the right man for the role, with the goalkeeper taking his time to make a decision.
