Inter boss Simone Inzaghi provides Benjamin Pavard update after knee injury vs Atalanta

Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi has provided an update on the wellbeing of Benjamin Pavard, on the back of the club’s meeting with Atalanta.

Inter marked their return to action a short time ago, making the trip to Bergamo for a Serie A showdown with Gian Piero Gasperini’s troops.

When all was said and done, the evening’s visitors emerged on the right side of the result, owing to goals on the part of Hakan Çalhanoğlu and Lautaro Martinez.

One sour note on an otherwise fine night’s work for the Nerazzurri in Bergamo, though, came on the personnel front.

This arrived just beyond the half-hour mark, when the aforementioned Benjamin Pavard picked up what, at the time, looked a serious knee injury.

The summer arrival in Milan was ultimately able to limp from the field of play, replaced in Inter’s backline by Matteo Darmian.

After being spotted looking in good spirits whilst celebrating alongside his teammates on the back of Martinez’s 2nd-half strike, hope in turn spread that Pavard’s issue was not as serious as it first appeared.

Speaking to the media post-match, however, Simone Inzaghi painted an altogether more concerning picture of the situation.

Admitting that Pavard’s knee was momentarily dislocated, Inter’s boss pointed towards a likely incoming spell on the sidelines:

“We’ll have to wait a moment. In the collision with Lookman the kneecap came out and then came back in . In my opinion we will lose him for a while but we are waiting for the doctors, who were very good when they intervened.”
