Inter forward Lautaro Martinez expressed his emotions throughout the past six months within the second half of the campaign ahead of the Nerrazzurri’s Champions League final fixture against Manchester City.
Despite an underwhelming domestic campaign, Inter managed to turn the tables around as they clinched Coppa Italia against Fiorentina and managed to overcome Milan in a two-legged affair to reach the finals in Istanbul tomorrow evening.
In addition, the Beneamata have only lost a single match within their last twelve fixtures across all competitions, securing their spot within next year’s edition of the Champions League as the Nerazzurri finished in third with a total of 72 points.
Playing a vital part in obtaining positive results as the Argentine amassed 21 goals and six assists in 38 games-played within the Serie A, the 25 year-old touched upon his emotions following a roller-coaster of a season, as well as previewing the European final in an interview, via FcInterNews:
“The last six months have been incredible, I had the privilege of winning the World Cup with Argentina and reaching the Champions League final with Inter,” commenced Lautaro.
Important goals for Toro, scored against Barcelona, Benfica and Milan:
“Heavy goals that I wanted to score with all my heart. The most exciting one remains the one against Milan. The key match? The one against Barcelona, at that moment we convinced ourselves to the end that we could have dreamed big”.
Now the final…
“We will need to take the field with personality, intelligence and a lot of heart, which we have put into the whole season. It will be important to be fully concentrated and know that there is one step left to bring home what we all want”.
A final that comes 13 years after the last game, the unforgettable night in Madrid:
“Of course I remember that final, I’m lucky enough to have had the protagonists of that Inter as examples and to still have close by today, from Diego Milito who has been very important to me since Racing and who I still feel today to Javier Zanetti who I see every day in Appiano”
