Serie A club Inter are making significant progress to sign Lille defender Tiago Djaló on a free transfer next summer.
According to a report by Pasquale Guarro, Inter have stepped up talks with Ligue 1 side Lille’s central defender Tiago Djalo in recent days. Talks have been continuing for a while now and there have been signs of progress.
The Nerazzurri could have signed the Portuguese before announcing Benjamin Pavard but negotiations were halted after the player suffered an Anterior Cruciate Ligament Rupture last season. Djalo is recovering well and is nearing his return to the pitch soon.
The current Serie A league leaders have kept on assessing the defender’s recovery and always stayed in touch with his entourage for the last six months or so. The 23-year-old can be signed on free agency during January as his contract with Les Dogues expires next summer. However, the pre-contract agreement won’t be concluded before the winter transfer window.
Meanwhile, Barcelona have expressed a definite interest in Djalo recently and this will be something to worry Inter as they hope to pull the strings correctly and not let the player slip from their hands.
