Inter’s Francesco Acerbi reveals potential Milan Skriniar replacement

Inter veteran Francesco Acerbi has dropped a potential hint about the fact that Atalanta’s Giorgio Scalvini could be the Nerazzurri’s potential replacement for Milan Skriniar.

Skriniar is set to leave Inter for Paris Saint-Germain in the summer on a free transfer and he has already been stripped off the club’s captaincy. PSG made attempts to sign him in January as well but a move never worked out, as the French side could never meet Inter’s demands.

Acerbi spoke about his teammate in a recent interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport. The Italian revealed that Skriniar never revealed to anyone that he was going to PSG but also stated that someone like Scalvini could be a good replacement.

The defender said: “We all knew he had an offer from PSG, but he never told us anything. And we didn’t care much. We’ve always seen commitment from him, that’s what mattered to us.

“Then at the end of the year it will be a disappointment to see him leave and it won’t be easy to replace him. Good young defenders are few and expensive, like Scalvini.”

Scalvini has already been linked with a move to Inter but a host of big clubs are interested in the Italian, who can play at centre-back but also plays a role in midfield. Manchester City and Atletico Madrid have drawn links with Scalvini in recent months.
