Italian emerging striker Mateo Retegui is reportedly being pursued by Serie A side Inter and LaLiga outfits Atletico Madrid for the upcoming transfer window.
According to a report from Marco Conterio, the Colchoneros are currently in a pole position to land the 23-year-old striker. Mateo Retegui has dropped stellar performances this season in the Argentine Primera División for Tigre on loan from Boca Juniors and was crowned the top scorer of the league last season with 22 goals.
Due to his performances, Tigre are set to buy Retegui permanently from Boca Juniors for a rumoured fee of around €2.1 million with the Xeneizes holding 50 per cent of his future resale value.
After scoring two goals in two matches during the UEFA Euro qualifiers, Mateo Retegui has caught the eye of several European clubs and Atletico Madrid have established the primary contacts. A big drama is anticipated in the summer as Serie A clubs like Inter, Torino and Roma are set to fight for the prolific striker’s signature.
