Italy boss Roberto Mancini keeping tabs on Lyon’s Rayan Cherki

Italy manager Roberto Mancini is keeping tabs on Lyon’s Rayan Cherki, who is eligible to play for the Italian national team.

La Repubblica have reported about Cherki’s situation, stating that Mancini is not stopping at Mateo Retegui when it comes to his intentions around calling up players who are eligible to represent the Azzurri through parents or grandparents. Cherki, through his grandfather, is capable of representing Italy and as of now, big Premier League clubs and Paris Saint-Germain are keeping tabs on him.

Mancini is hoping to make sure that Cherki plays for Italy soon and the playmaker is expected to make a decision regarding his future soon, having failed to break into the France first team so far in his young career. He has represented Algeria at a youth team level and they are also expected to speak to him regarding playing him in the first-team, but Italy are well in the fray.
