Jose Mourinho now wants a greater control and say in affairs at Roma and that could stop him from leaving the club this summer.
Corriere della Sera have added some details to the rumours surrounding Mourinho’s potential Roma exit at the end of the season. They state that while a host of clubs get linked with the Roma manager on a daily basis, only one side has made a concrete offer – the Portuguese national team. And Mourinho pegged that approach back.
The reality is that it is not easy to find a contract worth €9 million per season and at Roma, the Portuguese earns a high amount and enjoys the love of a dedicated fanbase. But despite that, he now wants a higher control over things at Roma – on and off the pitch. He has been vocal about the lack of squad depth and difference in quality between the first-team stars and the back-up players and he wants this issue to be resolved.
His relationship with Tiago Pinto is not great and now, the Friedkins have a decision to make. They could either accept his demands of more control over affairs, accept that he will leave in the summer or ask him to stay till the end of his contract. A lot could depend on Champions League qualification, which can determine how much finances Roma have to operate in the market.
