Juventus’ Angel di Maria potentially fakes injury ahead of Bologna clash

Juventus’ Angel Di Maria will miss tonight’s clash against Bologna due to a reported ankle problem but for La Gazzetta dello Sport the real reason could be different.

Apparently, Di Maria told about his injury to the medical staff only after he realized that he would have not made the starting line-up for the Bologna clash.

During yesterday’s training, coach Massimiliano Allegri lined up Filip Kostic and Federico Chiesa together with Arkadiusz Milik, with Di Maria expected to have started from the bench tonight at the Dall’Ara stadium.

Juventus did not officially justify Di Maria’s absence from tonight’s game and an explanation might came minutes before the kick off only if Massimiliano Allegri or someone from Juventus’ board will speak to DAZN during the pregame show.

Di Maria has played 32 games across all competitions this season, scoring eight goals and providing seven assists but his last goal came against Freiburg in Europa League on March 9th.

He has not scored in Serie A since the match winning goal away at Spezia on February 19th.

Di Maria’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season. As of right now there has been no official talks for an extension.

It has been reported that El Fideo has not ruled out the possibility of staying one more season with the Bianconeri but at the same time, he has never hidden his desire to go back to Argentina and end his career with Rosario Central, his hometown club.
