Inter striker Lautaro Martinez is expected to become the club’s captain next season.
Milan Skriniar was the club’s most recent captain but with the player having agreed to move to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer during the January transfer window, he was recently stripped off captaincy. And Inter are now looking for a new permanent skipper.
La Gazzetta dello Sport claim that due to his good performances in 2023 and his increasing leadership role in the dressing room, the Nerazzurri have decided to grant him a promotion in the pecking order. While Marcelo Brozovic has played more games than Martinez, he has not been as impressive as the Argentine when it comes to his workrate and leadership post-World Cup.
It isn’t like Martinez has not attracted interest from other clubs but he has decided to commit himself to the Nerazzurri and that is something Beppe Marotta always values a lot in a leader.
