Lazio’s Matteo Guendouzi likely to earn France recall

Lazio’s Matteo Guendouzi has done well since his arrival at the club and it could see him return to play for the French national side soon.

The midfielder had joined the Roman club from Marseille in the summer transfer window and he said to be a key target for Maurizio Sarri, who had managed against him during his time at Chelsea.

Corriere dello Sport (via TMW) today state that Guendouzi has impressed many with his performances since joining the Biancocelesti. Not just many at Lazio, even France boss Didier Deschamps has been left happy with the ex-Arsenal man’s showings at the Olimpico.

There is belief that Guendouzi has now matured as an individual and he is less transgressive than before, with the player having picked up just one yellow card in the whole season. Sarri believes that the Frenchman is much more suited to the pressing approach than fellow new signing Daichi Kamada and he feels that the 24-year-old is currently the first choice midfielder in the side, even ahead of Nicolo Rovella and Luis Alberto.
